The Cruelty of Choice

Time is utterly painful and cruel
It will turn the wisest man into the simplest of fools
It matters not whether it flows slow or fast
It will wear even the most careful down to ash

What we do with our time matters
One day our lives will finally shatter
And when you come to journey’s end
The choice is all yours my friend

Will you surround yourself with love or lock yourself away
Keep to the shadows or greet the bright new day
The choices you make lie down winding streets
Successfully navigating them is no small feat

Each day is a chance to experience anew
The opportunities of life’s brew
Will the choices you make be right or wrong
This is your story, it is your song

Your time is yours for better or worse
Up until you are hauled away in the hearse
So live your life as best as you can
This is the blessing and folly of man
