Joe’s Choice

Good morning Joe, the election’s been won
You’re going to be president soon, you son of a gun
The road ahead is long and undefined
Take care that you don’t step on too many land mines

Don’t forget all the promises you’ve made
The world is now watching, are you afraid
Who now will first receive their due
The voters or your corporate donors, who will you pursue

Better get to work, policies don’t write themselves
Which do you focus on first, which go back on the shelves
Do you focus on stimulus or maybe immigration reform
Make your choices carefully, no need for a political firestorm

But before all that, you’d better pick your team
You’ll want people you can trust and hold you in high esteem
Do you choose only experts, or give the party their due
Everyone wants to know, the choice is up to you

And Joe finally there is one thing it’s best you knew
About how you handle yourself and how you are viewed
How history remembers you is based on this test
Will you be forever despised, or one of the best

With a new President set to take office in January, many questions remain as to just what we, the people, can expect from Joe Biden. Will he be a healer, or will he lengthen the divide that currently splits the country? Will he be just another politician in the pockets of big industry and political lobbyists, or will he bring about true change that will help the everyday citizen? Will he increase the deficit to ever higher limits, or be frugal and balance the budget and issue cuts where they are needed? These and many other questions await us in the coming months.

Regardless of your political stance, one thing that I hope we can all agree on is that this country needs to work out its differences and come together in order to come to a acceptable compromise regarding the issues of the day. Will Joe Biden be that president? Only time, and the choices he and his administration will make will tell that tale. The world is watching, try not to mess it up Joe.
