Fires of Revolution

Your lanterns rage like a blazing inferno
Lighting the fires of truth wherever you may go
Gathering followers with your intense conviction
The fires draw me endlessly in, it’s an addiction

I will follow you every day and into the night
Just to be near that burning light
Your passion draws me ever further in
As your revolution finally begins

And as the battle rages ever on
Your fiery victory seems foregone
Reaching goals few have ever achieved
In truth I’m somewhat relieved

I was until now filled with fright
I saw you preparing the sacrificial rite
Every cause eventually runs out of steam
Regardless of how just it may seem

And to martyrdom do you plan to go
Please tell me it isn’t so
For though every fire eventually dies
I can’t bear to see the light leave your passionate eyes.
