Crossing the Gaps

Traveling along the road of life
I pass through times of joy and strife
When ahead the path has many gaps
As my journey suddenly comes to a sudden lapse

I cannot go back that path is fading
Yet my inability to move forward is rather grating
As I look further into the gaping hole
It’s like looking into the depths of my soul

While the challenge may be easy for some
This is a test I must overcome
As I reach into the depths of my personal well
The answer comes forth like the chime of a bell

Having new experiences is how to move on
Learning new things fills up the gaps until they’re gone
So when I come across new gaps each day
I overcome each of them in my own unique way

Taking on these challenges can be quite a feat
As I travel along the hole-filled street
But it is my duty to learn and grow
What lies around the next bend I do not know
