A Covid Thanksgiving

It’s that time of the year once again
When we gather together to reflect on what a crazy year it’s been
So gather round your tables and chairs
And pay your respects to those who couldn’t be there

Be thankful for your health, not everyone made it this far
The pandemic does not discriminate no matter who you are
To be able to get together with family close and dear
Is no small feat given what’s happened this year

Be thankful for your food, making it was no small task
But before you dig in there is one thing I must ask
Think of those who in their homes must stay
Lest they get infected, sicken, and pass away

Be thankful for your family, for keeping you sane
All year long they’ve helped relieve your strain
Remember not everyone has been as fortunate as you
Many have lost loved ones this year, it’s sad but true

There are many more things you can add to this list
Work, friends, money, you get the gist
But the one thing that you should be most thankful for
Is the gift of life, who knows what lies in store?
